Welcome to the Solway Sharks Juniors Ice Hockey Club

Solway Sharks Juniors is the junior ice hockey team of Dumfries. They are a group of very committed and enthusiastic Players, Coaches, Team Leaders, Parents and Spectators.

Ice Bowl

Player ages range from 6 to 20, and play in 5 different age groups: Under 10's, 12's, 14's, 16's and 20's. Find out more about who can join, who's involved and how to register.

New Sports Shop Opens At the Ice Bowl

The new Solway Sports shop has opened at Dumfries Ice Bowl

Opening hours are:

Friday 5pm - 9.30pm
Saturday 9am - 6pm (or until game finishes)
Sunday
10am - 6pm

Summer Opening

During the hockey school and summer training, the shop will also be open minimum of 11.30am - 2pm

Individual Player Sponsorship

Each player is requested to complete the player sponsorship form and return with a cheque for £30. Players can ask family, friends, relatives or a local business to sponsor them. We will then produce a photograph of each player which will be displayed at the Ice Bowl with details of his / her sponsor. Download the sponsorship form here.

    24/09/2008 : SHARKS SHOOT DOWN REDSKINS

    Sunday 21 September 2008 will become a momentous day in the history of Ice Hockey in Dumfries and Galloway for this is the first time that our local talented young hockey players have visited the self-professed home of ice hockey throughout Scotland and produced an outstanding performance beating the Kirkcaldy Under 12s and Under 20s in their own back yard.  ...full story »

    24/09/2008 : SOLWAY SHOOT DOWN FALCONS

    The under 12s Sharks were then followed onto the ice by the Under 20s who were fielding an extremely strong side and had high hopes of a positive result and the Under 20s did not let coaches Bobby Haig and Jessie Kerr down in a game which swung one way and then the other and was refereed by some very interesting decisions.  The Sharks took the lead in the seventh minute when poster boy Struan Tonnar scored unassisted.     15/09/2008 : RAPTORS LOSE BITE

    Murrayfield Raptors were the visitors to Dumfries Ice Bowl, for the opening of the home teams 2008/09 season, at under 16 level. The junior Solway Sharks have been training hard over the last two months and were desperate to show their sharpness in the first competitive fixture....full story »

    14/09/2008 : CAPITALS SINK IN SOLWAY

    Keen to continue the winning streak the Solway Sharks Under 14s took to the ice against Murrayfield on Sunday 14th September.  Again the experienced Under 14s of Connor Smith, Joe Coulter, Daniel Fleming and Aaron Paterson were given the responsibility of supporting a number of younger players who were playing up to this level with Scott Henderson and Stuart Kerr making their under 14 debuts. ...full story »

    06/09/2008 : TEN OF THE BEST

    North Ayr Under 12s are traditionally one of the best teams in the league, however, undaunted by this the Junior Sharks Under 12s went about their business from the first whistle with Captain Josh Grieveson and his assistants Connor Henderson and Jack Stephenson combining well in the second minute resulting in Connor Henderson opening the scoring.  The Sharks then went two nil up when Josh Broadfoot finished calmly after good work from Kyle Johnston.  North Ayr then rallied making the score 2 – 1 in the tenth minute, the score staying this way until the end of the first period.  Following an inspirational team talk from Under 12s coach Jamie Thomson, the Sharks came out full of fire in the second period with a further goals from Josh Broadfoot, 2 from Scott Henderson, 2 for Josh Grieveson and 1 for Ruth McCutcheon making the final score an impressive 10 – 1 victory for the Under 12s.  The man of the match for the Junior Sharks was Assistant Captain Jack Stephenson. ...full story »
