Dumfries Ice Bowl, King Street, Dumfries, DG2 9AN
Sunday 8th November saw the Solway Sharks Junior Ice Hockey Club’s youngest team, the under 10s take on Dundee Stars under 10s on home ice at Dumfries Ice Bowl.
The first period began with Solway making various advances towards the Stars net, with shots on goal coming from Lewis Houston, Kieran Hair, Kier Anderson and Lewis Chalmers, however despite their effort the young Solway team could not capitalise and Dundee who had the added bonus of Solway’s Jack Graham, Connor Clark, Rebecca Nicol, Conor Caven and Luke Houston on loan for this fixture shot three goals past Sharks net minder Kyle Johnston ending first period scoring at Dundee - 3 Solway - 0.
The second period got underway much like the first with Sharks again attempting to force their way through the Stars defence with some great team work being displayed by Aidan Nicol and Ruairi Lockerbie who was playing his debut game for the Solway team and also shots on goal from Luke Hunter and Corey Cooper but four minutes into the period Stars put their fourth mark on the score sheet, this was swiftly followed by Dundee leaving Solway defenders Ewan Anderson and Scott McCutcheon dazed as they stormed through for Stars fifth and it was not to end there as Sharks Rebekah Scott, Ross-Taylor Cook and Mekhi Caven struggled to keep the puck safe, Stars took possession and sent goal six into the back of the Solway net, followed shortly after by their final seventh goal ending scoring at Dundee - 7 Solway - 0. Man of the match went to Solway's Lewis Houston.
